UKNY for March 27
A brand new beabadoobee song on tonight's "UKNY" at 11 p.m., found on Londoner Beatrice Laus's second album Beatopia, released July 15 via the Dirty Hit label. It follows Bea's debut album, 2020's Fake It Flowers, and she's back on the road too, with an itinerary that includes a set at the Newport Folk Festival on July 23.
Also in the mix, the BBC Sound of 2022 winner PinkPantheress, Rome-born and London-based producer Maria Chiara Argiró, and the ferociously fun Japanese punk band Otoboke Beaver, who release their next album, Super Champion, on May 6. Expect something from Liverpool's hard rocking The Mysterines and the fantastic Leeds quartet English Teacher too.
I'll also play Los Angeles's electrifying The Linda Lindas and Toronto singer-songwriter and climate activist The Weather Station — both have contributed their "Five Essential Albums" to FUV for our "Ascending Women" series.
British and global releases on "UKNY," Sunday nights 11 p.m.-midnight on 90.7 FM, streaming online, and found in the Weekend Archives if you want to listen on demand at a not-so-late hour.
