Sometimes you need to break your own rules and cross borders. Tonight's UKNY at 11 heads out of Britain to Ireland for a brutal, brilliant and weirdly funny track from Dublin's Girl Band and also dawdles in New Zealand (by way of Hawaii and Portland, Oregon), for two Commonwealth Cuts via two talented siblings, Kody Nielson of Silicon and Ruban Nielson of Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

Also, brand new releases from London's effervescent punk trio Shopping (pictured) and soulful Lake District duo Aquilo, both headed to CMJ in New York next month, making their North American debuts. Ride is in town on Monday and Tuesday too, playing Irving Plaza, and we'll hear something from that band too. Their remarkable 1990 debut Nowhere will be re-released in a special 25th anniversary edition, Nowhere 25, on November 6.

Out late or in bed early? You can catch up to UKNY on demand in the FUV weekend archives up to two weeks after broadcast.
