UKNY For October 28
Back on October 2, 1988, according to the 2001 Richard Kelly sci-fi film "Donnie Darko," a sinister rabbit named Frank tells Jake Gyllenhaal's Donnie that the world will end in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds — right around Halloween eve. On UKNY at 11, a set inspired by that eerie, time traveling cult classic as we nudge our way towards that very date, 30 years in the past.
Also, after an 11 year wait, the long-overdue return of the Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon, Simon Tong and Tony Allen supergroup, The Good, the Bad & The Queen, with a new album that casts an anguished eye at a tumultuous post-Brexit world.
And new releases from the London trio Calva Louise, Liverpool's Hannah's Little Sister, Derbyshire's Haiku Salut, and Tokyo-born, London-based Anchorsong, who has released one of the most delightful albums of the year, Cohesion.
Heading to bed early on Sunday night? Catch up to UKNY at any time on demand in the Weekend Archives.
