My math is likely off, but tonight's show appears to be the 500th episode of "UKNY," which began back in July 2013. And to celebrate, an FUV Live session with a musician I've long admired, Self Esteem.

I first spoke to Rebecca Lucy Taylor back in 2014 when she played Studio A with her former band, Slow Club. But since the dissolution of Slow Club in 2017, and Taylor's solo debut with 2019's Compliments Please, her star quality and ferocious artistry finally has free rein.

Rebecca's remarkable 2021 album, Prioritise Pleasure, changed her life; she's racked up Mercury Prize and Brit Award nominations as well as a BBC Introducing Award and sold-out headlining tours. On Saturday, July 8, she'll open for Blur at London's Wembley Stadium in addition to other festival dates this summer.

Rebecca also composed the music for Suzie Miller's Olivier-winning play Prima Facie, starring Olivier winner Jodie Comer, who is now nominated for a 2023 Tony Award. Prima Facie, a searing monologue about sexual assault and its aftermath, runs on Broadway through July 2.

I had the chance to catch up with Rebecca and her Self Esteem bandmates for an FUV Live session the morning after their sold-out show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 12. Tonight on #500 "UKNY" at 11pm, that performance and interview.

Also, new music from Joanna Sternberg, who opened for Self Esteem at MHOW, plus Welsh rockers CVC (Church Village Collective), making their live New York debut this week, and Tinariwen, playing Webster Hall on Monday night.

British and international music on "UKNY," Sundays from 11 p.m.-midnight, on 90.7 FM, streaming online and in the Archives after broadcast.
