It's hard to say who was more impatient for The Last Dinner Party's debut album, Prelude to Ecstasy, to be released — their fans or the band members themselves. Recorded at the turn of 2023 with producer James Ford, with a slow rollout of singles last year, the quintet (and their label's marketing team) built up a heady brew of buzz for over a year.  But for anyone who saw The Last Dinner Party live — with their kinetic, charismatic, full-on sets infused with humor, ferocity, and deft musicianship — the hype was very well deserved.  On "UKNY" tonight at 11pm, a chance to dig a little deeper into Prelude to Ecstasy, which arrived, at long last, on Friday.

Also in the mix: Mercury Prize-nominated saxphonist Nubya Garcia returns with a sultry new composition; Manchester legends A Certain Ratio connect with indefatigable Speedy Wunderground producer Dan Carey for a new album; and the return of the blissful Scottish pop of Camera Obscura who'll release their first album in over a decade this May.

London's pencil have released a beautiful second single and South Korean producer Peggy Gou taps a 4x Grammy-winning American rocker for a danceable duet.

Listen to "UKNY," Sundays 11pm-midnight, on 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
