UKNY For April 9
Both The Joy Formidable and Everything Everything are headed to New York next week for a show at Irving Plaza on April 14, so on UKNY at 11, we'll hear from both of those arresting bands, one steeped in heartbreak and the other in dystopian angst.
Also, new releases from Liverpool newcomers Cavalry, a nearly 10-minute odyssey from Kiran Leonard, and a small salute to the drummer that lent his jazz-flushed genius to David Bowie's Berlin trilogy of albums—Low, Heroes and Lodger—plus Young Americans, Station to Station and so much more: Dennis Davis. Davis, a native New Yorker, passed away earlier this week after a long fight with cancer.
Bowie figures again with a song written for vocalist Claudia Lennear too, as Aladdin Sane celebrates its 43rd anniversary next week, on April 13.
Missed the show? You can catch up to UKNY on demand as of Monday in the FUV weekend archives up to two weeks after broadcast.
