Tonight on UKNY at 11, the very welcome return of Lush—resurrected with a brand new EP, called Blind Spot. Also, fresh releases from C86 legends Close Lobsters, Birmingham's dynamic Laura Mvula, and UK-Norwegian newcomers Firewoodisland.

I pre-taped tonight's show early Thursday afternoon and about 49 minutes into the taping, our music director, a stunned and ashen-faced Russ Borris, walked into the studio where I was working and told me that Prince had died. I asked him to repeat what he'd said three times, convinced that he meant another Prince. Trying to regain one's composure when you've been told, for a second, shattering time in four months, that one of the artists you loved unconditionally had died was impossible. Do know that on next week's show, I'll pay proper respects to this genius. There was a purple bridge between Minneapolis and Britain ...

You can catch up to UKNY on demand as of Monday in the FUV weekend archives up to two weeks after broadcast.
