This  FUV Live session is also available as a podcast, "FUV Live Sessions." We're elevating WFUV's long history of live sessions and interviews via a podcast that you can find on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Amazon Podcasts. New episodes drop every Monday.

The Heavy Heavy's 2022 debut EP, Life and Life Only, was an instant classic when it was released, and a breakthrough for this Brighton-based band, led by Will Turner and Georgie Fuller.

The EP's seven songs were warm, inviting and, to my ears, had a very '70s California vibe to them. However when I asked Turner and Fuller a couple years ago in their first FUV Live session, they said that their biggest inspiration was actually the Rolling Stones.

That bluesy British rock style is far clearer on their new album, One of a Kind. They also incorporate pop and country and get psychedelic too on the new songs, while maintaining their signature timeless style.

I was very happy to catch up with Fuller and Turner again in Studio A. The Heavy Heavy seemed even more confident and powerful to me. They're especially excited to tour behind this new album. "The live show is a different beast," says Fuller. "Will is a producer at heart and I'm a performer at heart, and so between us we bridge the two worlds."

Get a taste of The Heavy Heavy's live magic. Watch videos of Turner, Fuller, bassist Tom Holder, guitarist Frank Fogden, and drummer Joe Bordenaro playing three songs from One of a Kind: "Happiness," "Because You're Mine," and "Cherry."
