Cavalcade for March 2

There are always new music gems in the crown of music that is "Cavalcade," and featured, shiny new objects by Julien Baker & TORRES, Fontaines D.C., '80s punk-popsters The Vapors, and a wry duet of Orville Peck and Willie Nelson.
But the real stars of this week's show are the late American music icon Roberta Flack, and the customary "Cavalcade" first-Sunday-of-the-month deep dive into the new releases of exactly 50 years ago.
In tonight's expanded "Golden Anniversary LP Crate Dig" a benchmark Roberta Flack album release is just one of the vinyl treasures. From the mellow rock and soul of Earth, Wind & Fire, Steely Dan, Chicago, and America, to bangers by KISS and NY punk pioneers, The Dictators. There's Tina Turner's "acid queen' turn in the movie of "Tommy" and gentle reflections of both youth and mid-life from Janis Ian and Judy Collins. Plus Jeff Beck's smoldering fusion, Bowie's biggest album success of the '70s, and well....just WOW. All vintage March 1975.
"Cavalcade," Sundays 6-9 p.m., and FUV's own not-so-way-back machine is the Archives where you can stream last week's show, or tonight's on instant replay.
