Young Fathers: 2015
The Scottish trio Young Fathers was formed by Alloysious Massaquoi, Kayus Bankole and "G" Hastings when they were teens. After making their first song together on a karaoke machine, they quickly realized that music was their calling. The band released its full-length debut, Dead, last year and went on to receive the prestigious Mercury Prize for the record, beating out more well-known acts like Damon Albarn, FKA Twigs and Bombay Bicycle Club.
Young Fathers quickly followed that release with the new album White Men Are Black Men Too, and during my conversation with the band, they discussed the significance of the album title and as well as their musical journey. We'll hear that conversation and their Studio A performances during this Alternate Side in Session.
