Grace Bergere, who plays the Bowery Ballroom on Saturday, grew up in the historic Westbeth Artist Housing and Center for the Arts in New York City's West Village. Her dark, atmospheric sound only adds to the impact of her descriptive, lyric-driven songwriting.

She'll visit "The Whole Wide World" tonight at 6 p.m. and grace us with some songs live in FUV’s studio. I’m excited to introduce her music and story, one night before that Bowery Ballroom record release party and performance, a night to celebrate the long-awaited first pressing of Grace’s debut LP, A Little Blood, out on Eugene Hutz’s label, Casa Gogol Records, as well as the release of NYContinuity Vol. 1: New New York Does Old New York, featuring original tracks from Casa Gogol artists as well as covers of the New York bands that inspired them.

The opening track of the album is Grace’s cover of the Velvet Underground’s "All Tomorrow’s Parties," featuring Thurston Moore. Bergere has played on bills alongside Gogol Bordello, Jon Spencer, and Kaizers Orchestra. She will be touring with Gogol Bordello on the West Coast for the second time in July.

That's tonight on "The Whole Wide World," Fridays 6-9 p.m., on 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
