Van Hunt creates a soulful mix of R&B, funk, rock and pop. He's a Grammy winner too, sharing the award in 2007 with John Legend and Joss Stone for their cover of Sly & the Family Stone's "Family Affair" and he also received a nomination for "Dust," from his self-titled 2004 debut album.

It's been 15 years since Hunt released that first album to critical acclaim, and to celebrate that big anniversary, he’s released a new, reimagined version of the record, called TRIM (The Reimagined Van Hunt).

When Hunt visited the Bronx for an FUV Live session, he told me what it feels like to revisit songs that he wrote in his early twenties, and how some things have changed, but some things have stayed the same. Luckily, he brought his guitar with him and played a couple of songs from the stripped-down TRIM:  "Seconds of Pleasure" and "Hello Goodbye."

See Van Hunt live at BAM's R&B Festival at Metrotech on August 15.
