For this edition of "Marquee Live at Home," we connected with a Tennessee songbird who has landed right here in New York City: Valerie June. This Brooklyn-based artist has been dazzling us for years now with her "organic moonshine roots music," as she calls it. She's back now with an otherworldly new release called The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions for Dreamers, and it's a reflective set of songs that fills the heart and mind with wonder.

During this very unique session over Zoom, Valerie performed a few of the new songs solo and also led us through a "themes of sound" meditation. Her thoughtful presence extended to our conversation too, when she talked with me about how spirituality informs her musicality. She also shared some of the joyful experiences of the making of the album, including being able to feature the voice of Stax legend and "Queen of Memphis Soul," Carla Thomas.

I hope you enjoy this "Marquee Live from Home" show as much as we did. (Namaste.)
