On UKNY at 11 tonight, new releases from Manchester garage rockers The Goa Express, fast-rising Mysie (recent winner of Rising Star honors at the Ivor Novello awards), Girlhood, Everything Everything, and London jazz luminary Nubya Garcia, whose much-anticipated debut album is finally available.

In addition, a set in memory of my radiant, music-loving mother, who passed away late last month and who would have celebrated her birthday this Monday. Her passion for music of all genres, from Mozart to reggae to Paul Simon, was my guide, and the songs she loved are the soundtrack of my childhood. I miss her beyond all words.

That's UKNY, Saturdays from 11 p.m.-midnight, on 90.7 and streaming online, also found via the Weekend Archives for two weeks after broadcast.
