Earlier this month, on September 5, the Leeds quartet English Teacher won the 2024 Mercury Prize for their debut album, This Could Be Texas. Amid tears and cheers, the quartet of Lily Fontaine, Lewis Whiting, Douglas Frost, and Nicholas Eden reached the apex of their career to date almost four years after playing their very first gig. Back in November 2023, English Teacher recorded an FUV Live/UKNY session ahead of the release of This Could Be Texas in April 2024 — and on tonight's hour, revisiting that session with this remarkable band (they've also just launched a North American tour opening for IDLES too).

Also in the "UKNY" mix for tonight — a new track from Underworld, who announced their next album Strawberry Hotel, to be released on October 25. Kelly Lee Owens, who has opened for Underworld in the past, has a fourth album ahead, Dreamstate. South London's Honeyglaze will release their second album, Real Deal, this Friday, September 20 and Nilüfer Yanya's third album, My Method Actor, came out this past Friday. And more from Peter Cat Recording Co. too — the New Delhi quintet, who played two very sold out concerts at Irving Plaza and Brooklyn Steel last week, visited Studio A last week for an FUV Live/UKNY session to air later this autumn.

All of those artists and more on "UKNY," Sundays 11 p.m.-midnight, on 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
