Last weekend, desperate to make a break from construction-plagued midtown and the blistering heat, I jumped on the 1 train and traveled to Wave Hill in Riverdale, 28 acres of pastoral bliss, wooded trails, and dreamy river views. It was my first visit to this secret corner of the Bronx and as I wandered through Wave Hill's gardens, abundant with dahlias, daisies, succulents, lavender, and busy honeybees, I began shaping this week's UKNY in the back of my mind.

So on tonight's UKNY at 11, some songs inspired by Wave Hill, plus new releases from Elbow, Younghusband, Shopping, Skellums and more. Also, a nod to Queen Elizabeth II; as of this week she is Britain's longest-reigning monarch and corgi afficionado in history.

Meandering in the garden yourself and missed the show? You can catch up to UKNY on demand in the FUV weekend archives up to two weeks after broadcast.
