London singer, songwriter, and guitarist Joviale has dropped one of the most intriguing EPs of the year, called Crisis, produced by Bullion and out now on the Blue Flowers label. All four songs, some previously released as singles, deftly smudge the lines between jazz and experimental pop, and all are delivered with the languid assurance of Billie Holiday (although she loves Grizzly Bear and Jeff Buckley too).

Joviale will open for fellow Blue Flowers labelmate Nilüfer Yanya on November 19 at London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire and has her own show on December 12 at Folklore. I'm smitten with her EP and played "Taste of the Heavens" a few weeks back, and will get to another one of Joviale's tracks on UKNY tonight at 11.

Also, new releases from Melbourne's Courtney Barnett, Manchester's Whyte Horses, and Cameroon-born, New York-bloomed adventurer Vagabon. There's a massive new box set of live Cure, 40 Live: Cureation 25 + Anniversary, and I'll head back to Hyde Park 2018 with that collection of delectable wistfulness. Coldplay is back and so is PJ Harvey.

All of that and much more on tonight's UKNY, 11 p.m.-midnight, easy to find on demand to in the Weekend Archives, up to two weeks after broadcast.
