Since last week's CMJ show meant that I had to sidestep the fresh crop of Mercury Prize nominees (announced October 16), tonight's UKNY at 11 catches up with cuts from some of the shortlisted artists, like C. Duncan and Ghostpoet (pictured). Also, a few deserving artists and bands left off of the shortlist, like Everything Everything.

Also, new releases from Sunderland's adventurous Field Music and London trio Daughter, whose first single from their forthcoming second album, Not To Disappear, might be one of the most heartbreaking and perceptive songs of the year.

Headed to bed early or out late? You can catch up to UKNY on demand in the FUV weekend archives up to two weeks after broadcast.

Songs Played:

1. Field Music, “The Noisy Days Are Over,” Commontime
2. A Silent Film, “Lightning Strike,” A Silent Film
