Hailing from London, Essex, and Cambridgeshire, the members of Black Country, New Road have forged ahead, in just under two years, as one of the most fearless and formidable young bands in Britain. They adroitly scramble elements of punk, jazz, Krautrock, poetry, and slashes of dark humor in their ecstatically unconventional songs.  Earlier this year, the septet signed to Ninja Tune and their debut album, For the First Time, will be released on February 5. On tonight's "UKNY" at 11, a witty, raucously euphoric track from that forthcoming album.

Coincidentally, Black Country, New Road was also one of the last bands I got the chance to see live before the world shut down, catching their soundcheck at the Moth Club in early December; they are as riveting live as they are on record.

Also, new releases from Arlo Parks (just named BBC Introducing's Artist of the Year), Shabaka Hutchings, Marika Hackman, beabadoobee and, since it's nearly Election Day, a few American artists too, like Devon Gilfillian and Sudan Archives.

That's UKNY, Sundays from 11 p.m.-midnight, on 90.7, also streaming online and available after broadcast in the Weekend Archives.
