As May slips to June (even though we've all lost our concept of time in quarantine), tonight's "UKNY" at 11 has songs suited for late night escapes. An absolutely joyful track from Hackney's Albert Gold leads off the hour (with a big nod to Prince in its execution). There's a bittersweet collaboration from two late legends too, iconic Afrobeat master Tony Allen (who passed on April 30) and trumpeter Hugh Maselkela, gone since 2018, pulled from sessions the pair did at London's Livington Studios in 2010.

Jehnny Beth, Four Tet, Yazmin Lacey, Sports Team and Little Simz all have new albums or EPs, either released or forthcoming, plus the spirit of shoegaze rumbles through bdrmm's latest single. And Florence-born, presently New Jersey-based Birthh, the Italian singer, songwriter and producer Alice Bisi, has released a beguiling new album, her second, called WHOA.

All that and much more on "UKNY," Sundays from 11pm-midnight ET on 90.7, streaming online, in the Weekend Archives, and also easy to find on your smart speaker if you ask for WFUV.
