Since it was founded 30 years ago, the Red Hot organization has been devoted to fighting HIV/AIDS through music and global pop culture, with a long line of releases that arc from its first release, 1990's Red Hot + Blue, to 2016's Day of the Dead. After a four-year hiatus, Red Hot returns with a new EP, called Kele-le, which shifts focus to another pandemic, Covid-19, raising funds for those on the coronavirus frontlines. Kele-le, released later in the summer, will focus on five Nigerian musicians, all women, and tonight on UKNY at 11, we'll hear from one of them, Bella Alubo.

Also, a pair of songs from Christine and the Queens (one track inspired by my endless admiration and affection for Pamela Adlon's FX series, "Better Things," a much-needed escape in these pandemic days), and new releases from Manchester's Everything Everything, Dublin's Fontaines D.C., Bristol's Katy J. Pearson joined by Boy Azooga's Davey Newington, London's Arlo Parks, and many others.

That's UKNY airing Sunday nights from 11pm-midnight on 90.7FM, streaming online and found in the Weekend Archives.
