The cheeky London trio Honeyglaze describe themselves on social media as an "ungodly fusion of 3 humans into a clamouring superorganism" and a knowing self-deprecation infuses their songs. Singer and songwriter Anouska Sokolow's hasty pandemic decision to dye her hair — and the Shangri-Las' "Leader of the Pack" — inspired the band's new single, found on their self-titled debut album (recorded in just three days), released April 29 on Speedy Wunderground/PIAS. On "UKNY" at 11 tonight, Honeyglaze's two-minute-plus "Female Lead," produced by Dan Carey.

A busy hour with songs by artists and bands bound for NYC gigs this coming week, a couple fresh from SXSW — Leeds' post punk phenoms Yard Act, London's Kae Tempest, Byron Bay-via-Berlin's Parcels, and Zürich-born, London-based Priya Ragu. Also, brand new tracks from Sydney's The Nagging Doubts, Chichester's Traams, and London newcomers Malady, plus a majestic track from Black Country, New Road's second album, Ants From Up There. Poppy Ajudha's "act of resistence" and protest via an empowered single too.

And Belle and Sebastian have released a single from their forthcoming album, A Bit of Previous, to benefit the people of Ukraine called "If They're Shooting At You" — all proceeds will go to the Red Cross and the single can be purchased here via Bandcamp.

British and global sounds on "UKNY," Sunday 11 p.m.-midnight, on 90.7 FM, streaming online, and in the Weekend Archives after broadcast.
