Tonight's "UKNY" at 11 p.m. casts an eye on the chaos descending upon Austin, Texas this week — the SXSW music festival with hundreds of international bands playing innumerable official (and unofficial) showcases and gigs while wolfing down burritos between sets.

I wish I could be there this year — I can't, sadly — but if I were, I wouldn't miss Manchester's Mandy, Indiana — with the dynamic Valentine Caulfield on vocals. The group releases their debut album, I've Seen a Way, on May 19.

Also on my shortlist, the terrific Tommy Lefroy, Leeds' brilliant English Teacher, the British-American duo Prima Queen, Cape Town's Beatenberg, Montréal's Chiiild and Le Couleur, Ireland's Lemonade Shoelace, Iceland's Arny Margret, Brooklyn's Hello Mary, and Obongjayar, the Nigerian-born, London-based musician who released his gorgeous debut album, Some Nights I Dream of Doors, last year.

And in just an mere hour, I'll fit in Portsmouth's Dutch Criminal Record, Cardiff's Panic Shack and N'Famady Kouyaté, Malmö's Death and Vanilla, and London's divine mui zyu too.

Just a fraction of the outstanding artists and bands headed to SXSW this year on "UKNY," Sunday nights from 11p.m.-midnight on 90.7 FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
