BRIT Award and Mercury Prize winners Ezra Collective return this September with their fourth album, Here Because of Hope, and on "UKNY" at 7 p.m. tonight, the first single from the London jazz quintet's forthcoming 17-track release. Special guests on board that new album, including Pa Salieu, Letitia Wright, Leona Lewis and Lila Iké, reflect the cross-pollination of ideas and genres that Ezra Collective embraces — and why they were the first jazz artists to headline and sell out Wembley Arena.
Returning after 13 years, Boards of Canada have released their riveting fifth album, Inferno, is a curious, compelling Dante-worthy expedition by the Scottish brothers into this decade of dread. While I won't quite be as thorough as BoC pages or Reddit , I'll dig into the album over the weeks ahead with a double dose tonight.
Laura Misch's second album, Lithic, takes the listener to an ocean shore, spelunking in caves, and examining stones — it thrives on the momentum of beauty and geology.
Also in the mix: Winnipeg's sundayclub, Brighton's Lime Garden, London-based Momoko Gill, Australia's Pain Gain, and Glasgow's Belle and Sebastian have a World Cup love song for Scotland.
That's "UKNY," Sundays 7-8 p.m., on 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
