Yesterday, June 20, was not only start of summer—and the longest, most glorious stretch of light all year—but a significant day for the Alzheimer's Association. The non-profit organization, which helps the families and sufferers of Alzheimer's and other dementias, annually marks the fight against the darkness of this ruthless disease on the summer solstice, encouraging various routes of fundraising.

One such avenue is The Longest Day, a benefit album for the Alzheimer's Association released on Friday on Mon Amie Records and featuring a fantastic roster of artists like New Order, Daniel Avery, Moby, Algiers, Cold Specks, HAAi, and many others. On "UKNY" tonight at 11, we'll hear two tracks from this excellent new compilation: a beautiful, contemplative track from London's Anna Calvi, and the resurrection of a dreamy Eighties classic from Philadelphia's Beach Slang.

Also, Arlo Parks also does her own intriguing cover, Manchester's Portable Radio has a beachy banger, Norway's Paper Dog takes flight, and Erland Cooper roams his native Orkneys in his mind and his music.

That's "UKNY," Sunday night from 11pm-midnight on 90.7, streaming online, and found in the Weekend Archives.
