UKNY for June 12
Releasing their debut album, You Can't Steal My Joy, in 2019, Ezra Collective is one of the best-known jazz collectives in the UK. The group, led by drummer Femi Koleoso, has now signed to Partisan Records and released a new single, which we'll hear on tonight's "UKNY" at 11 p.m.
And speaking of fast-rising British jazz artists, London vocalist Ego Ella May leads with the first single from the forthcoming Blue Note Re:Imagined II, another collection of covers of classics by a new generation of UK-based artists.
Plus, spiky fresh singles from Hull's Low Hummer, Manchester's HANN, Nottingham's Divorce, and the effervescent French group Hyphen Hyphen, who'll be making their U.S. debut at SummerState in Central Park on June 21.
British and global releases on "UKNY," Sundays from 11 p.m.-midnight on 90.7, streaming online and available in the Weekend Archives after broadcast.
