It's been a very big week for Wolf Alice. The London quartet was nominated on Thursday for a 2021 Mercury Prize for their third album, Blue Weekend (they won in 2018 for their second album, Visions of a Life, and were nominated in 2015 for their first, My Love is Cool, an impressive juggernaut of nominations). And the electrifying live band played gigs before a big crowd for the first time in over 18 months too, at Bournemouth's O2 Academy on Thursday and Suffolk's Latitude Festival on Friday.

On tonight's "UKNY" at 11 tonight, I'll revisit this spring's FUV Live session with Wolf Alice, preceding the release of Blue Weekend, with performances of three songs from that album and a one-on-one chat with singer, songwriter and guitarist Ellie Rowsell, who discusses some of the ambitious approaches and band psychology that guided them.

Also, something from Black Country, New Road, also nominated for a 2021 Mercury Prize for their debut album, For the First Time, and new releases from Bess Atwell, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Mysie, Eliza Shaddad, and more.

That's "UKNY," Sundays 11p.m.-midnight, on 90.7, streaming online, and available in the Weekend Archives after broadcast.

Songs played:

1. FUV Live session with Wolf Alice (includes live performances of “The Last Man on Earth,” “How Can I Make It OK,” and “Smile”)
2. Unknown Mortal Orchestra, “Weekend Run,” single
