UKNY For July 22
It's nearly August? What a bizarre summer this has been. Finding a bit of time to escape from work — and the three-hour news cycle — is key to enjoying even a fragment of this season. Summer gives everyone a chance to briefly set aside worry to gaze at a lake, hang out on a stoop with friends, or hike a wooded trail.
So tonight's UKNY at 11 is devoted to songs from Britain and beyond with a sultry, playful, or thoughtful groove on this late July night, from Brighton's Jetstream Pony, Stone Mountain, Georgia-raised Childish Gambino, Wicklow-born Róisín Murphy, Melbourne's Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, and Hammersmith-born, Los Angeles-based Estelle.
Also, tomorrow, July 23, marks the seventh anniversary of Amy Winehouse's untimely and tragic passing. Since her voice is still so deeply missed, we'll remember her as well.
Enjoying a sweet, silent evening on the beach or in the Catskills tonight and missed the show? You can catch up to UKNY anytime in the Weekend Archives.
