UKNY For July 15
It's been a curious handful of days in Britain, but also a good reminder, especially during grim times, that one of the country's great strengths is its vivid cultural diversity. Global strife was certainly on Radiohead's mind here in the States during the band's four-night stand at New York's Madison Square Garden (which ended last night); their varied set lists reflected an agitated, perilous world via songs like "No Surprises," "The National Anthem," "Like Spinning Plates," and "You and Whose Army?"
On UKNY at 11 tonight, another appropriate Radiohead song that made a reappearance in their Tuesday night set. Also, tracks from Brighton and London's dynamic Our Girl, Essex and Miami pals Underworld and Iggy Pop, and London's Kojey Radical and Birmingham's Mahalia, who've released a critical and timely duet.
Also, Slow Club's Rebecca Taylor emerges on her own as Self Esteem and a smooth single from fast-rising Watford musician Connie Constance (pictured).
