The  return this month of three artists I especially revere makes tonight's "UKNY" at 11 p.m. a special one.  Michael Kiwanuka last visited FUV in 2019 to play songs from Kiwanuka, which would win him the 2020 Mercury Prize. Right after his June 2024 performance on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury — and ahead of his tour with Brittany Howard in the States this fall —  he has released a new single, "Floating Parade," which is brushed with a potent, dreamy grandeur.

Laura Marling hasn't released a solo album since 2020's Song For Our Daughter and as Lump, with her partner Mike Lindsay, their second album Animal came out in 2021. Since that time, Marling has taken a timeout to actually have a daughter and embark on motherhood. While bobbling her infant on her knee, she began writing songs for what will be her next album, Patterns in Repeat, released October 25, and a few days ago, she released the first lovely song from that forthcoming project.

SAULT, the London collective driven by producer Inflo and singer and songwriter Cleo Sol (Kiwanuka has also worked with SAULT), also made a surprise drop of a new album-slash-composition on July 6 — called Acts of Faith, it was made available for free via a link on the band's social media (that link expired after three days, but might be back again). First premiering at SAULT's one and, to date, only live performance in London in December, I'll play a part of Acts of Faith in the final third of tonight's show. (There might be a tracklisting, but I've not yet deciphered the band's cryptic clues on what individual song titles might be).

Also in tonight's mix, excellent new releases from saxophonist Nubya Garcia, Naima Bock (ex of Goat Girl), London trio Honeyglaze, São Paulo rockers Foxes on the Run, Helsinki-based Dear Dea, and Brighton's explosive Lambrini Girls, who'll be here in the NYC area on July 19 (The Sultan Room) and July 20 (opening for Amyl and the Sniffers at White Eagle Hall).

That's "UKNY," Sundays from 11 p.m.-midnight, at 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
