South London's Mysie has a rich, resonant warmth to her voice that intimately draws you into her world and the stories she weaves. I first fell head over heels for her 2019 single, "Sweet Relief," and have been slipping her songs into UKNY ever since. Tonight at 11, Mysie's brand new single, her first of 2020, accompanied by the news that this gifted and theatrical young musician was also nominated this week by the Ivors Academy for their brand new Rising Star Award, nurturing emerging artists in Britain and Ireland.

In addition, if you've been waiting for over a decade, like me, for the return of Doves, the procrastinating Manchester trio is back after 11 years (hooray!) with a new album looming over the horizon, The Universal Want. Lined up too: another dreamy track from Bdrmm's shoegaze manna of a debut album, Bedroom, and new singles from Amsterdam's Nana Adjoa, South Korea's 박혜진 Park Hye Jin, Manchester's Porij, and Melbourne's Husky.

Plus London's scrappy Talk Show with a perfectly titled pandemic anthem; Nadine Shah stirs a potent drink; and Michael Kiwanuka collaborates with Sault for one of the best singles of the year.

That's UKNY, back on Saturdays from 11p.m.-midnight, following "The Boogie Down," on 90.7, streaming online, and found in the Weekend Archives for two weeks after broadcast too.
