Tonight's second "UKNY" of 2023 is still happily ensconced in some outstanding 2022 releases — a fraction of some of the songs and albums I loved best over the past 12 months from Nilüfer Yanya, English Teacher, Julia Jacklin, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, TSHA, and others from Britain and beyond.

There were new discoveries too, like Amsterdam's boisterous Personal Trainer and the American-Canadian duo Tommy Lefroy, named for Jane Austen's dashing (and heartbreaking) beau, whose mellifluous harmonies circle around pointed lyricism.

And since it would have been David Bowie's 76th birthday today — something from the new Hunky Dory-era box set, Divine Symmetry.

That's "UKNY," Sunday nights 11 p.m.-midnight, on 90.7 FM, streaming online, and found in the Archives after broadcast.

Songs played:

1. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, “Never Seen You Dance,” When the Lights Go
2. TSHA feat. Clementine Douglas, “Dancing in the Shadows,” Capricorn Sun
3. Pale Blue Eyes, “Little Gem,” Souvenirs
4. Nia Archives, “Baianá,” single
5. Nilüfer Yanya, “Midnight Sun,” PAINLESS
6. SAULT, “Fight for Love,” 11
7. (Blue Mountains, AU) Julia Jacklin, “Magic,” Pre Pleasure

12. English Teacher, “Polyawkward,” Polyawkward EP
13. SpaceAcre, “Into the Dust,” single
