UKNY For January 20
It's a day of long walks, passionate voices, and the guiding spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. – his birthday on Monday was a powerful reminder of work to be done. With an eventful week on my mind, tonight's UKNY at 11 features selections from Ghostpoet, Nadine Shah, and Fold. We'll also hear from Edinburgh's Mercury Prize-winning trio, Young Fathers, who return this March with a new album, Cocoa Sugar, which promises a dynamic shift for the group.
Expect a fresh round of releases from Field Music, Mono Club (which now includes Lyla Foy), and Tracey Thorn, who releases her first album of original songs in seven years on March 2 which she's given the Google-challenging title of Record.
Also, a small tribute to the Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan, whose untimely and unfathomably sad passing on Monday stunned so many fans.
Missed the show? You can catch up UKNY on demand immediately after broadcast in the FUV Weekend Archives.
