Winner of the Mercury Prize in 2021 for Collapsed in Sunbeams, Arlo Parks has expanded from that first album's delicate, interior ruminations. She's embraced the sunny vibe of Los Angeles (2023's My Soft Machine) and now in 2026, what she calls the "weird underbelly of New York juke nights" for her forthcoming third album Ambiguous Desire, which lands on April 3. On "UKNY" at 11pm, the first single from that Baird-produced project.
London dreamgazers deary are now a trio with a brand new label, Bella Union, and a debut album on the horizon at long last, called Birding. The glorious cacophony of Manchester-Berlin's Mandy, Indiana is pretty divine — and they've got a new song from their second album, URGH. New York's Fcukers opt for a monophthong for the title their debut album, Ö, and feel lucky, and London's vegas water taxi cites another musician for the title of their twangy new song.
SAULT drops another surprise album, Chapter 1, and brings along Minneapolis's Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for the ride. Also, Samm Henshaw, Fold, Underworld and more on tonight's hour.
And finally, remembering the brilliant musicianship of black midi co-founder and guitarist Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin who died last week at 26 after what his family calls a "long battle with his mental health."
Listen to "UKNY," Sundays from 11p.m.-midnight, on 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
