As a graduate of the BRIT School, Olivia Dean is used to big expectations — the London institute of creative and performing arts has an alumni list that includes Adele, FKA Twigs, Jade Bird, and Loyle Carner. In December, the Walthamstow-born Olivia released her second EP, What Am I Going To Do On Sundays?, a collection of bittersweet songs circling around the pain of a breakup. There's a husky resignation and ache to Dean's voice, somewhat reminiscent of Adele's equally lovelorn early singles too. Tonight on "UKNY" at 11, a song from Olivia's handsome new EP.

Much to get to in the hour too — like new releases from Galway's dreamy NewDad and an evocatively pensive track from the usually explosive Black Country, New Road, on the brink of releasing their debut album, for the first time, in February. The BBC Sound of 2021 winner and four runners-up were announced earlier this month, gleaned from the influential poll's shortlist of emerging artists (previous winners include Adele again, Michael Kiwanuka, HAIM, Sam Smith, and last year's pick, Celeste), and we'll hear from the winner, Coventry's Pa Salieu, and Grantham's Holly Humberstone, who finished in second place.

Also, Field Music's Brewis brothers return with a fresh spin on their retro prog-pop grooves, and Brighton's Lost Horizons connect with an 82-year-old American soul singer for their latest release.

That's "UKNY," Sundays 11p.m.-midnight, on 90.7, streaming at WFUV.org and available in the Weekend Archives after broadcast.
