The start of 2021 has been far too overwhelming, to say the least. Fortunately, music is a self-care gift that we give ourselves. In the new Fran Lebowitz and Martin Scorsese series, "Pretend It's a City" on Netflix, Lebowitz makes an eloquent argument for the saving grace of music. "Musicians and cooks are responsible for the most pleasure in human life," she observes at one point, absolutely correct.

On tonight's "UKNY" at 11 p.m., a scattering of old loves, like David Bowie, who left us five years ago today, and newer crushes, like London's Goat Girl, Jenny Moore's Mystic Business, and Wings of Desire, Dublin's Fontaines D.C., and Manchester's Virginia Wing. Another Londoner now living in Berlin, Ghostpoet, has released a gorgeous new song appearing on the reissue of his 2020 album, I Grow Tired But Dare Not Fall Asleep, and Melbourne's Hachiku ponders her own youth via her debut album, I'll Probably Be Asleep.

If you might fall asleep before "UKNY" airs, Sundays from 11pm-midnight on 90.7, streaming online, you can always catch up to the show anytime you'd like in the Weekend Archives.
