The psychedelic kaleidoscope that colors the songs of Oxford nonet Mandrake Handshake isn't so much a late '60s flashback, but a giddy burst of euphoria that sounds like freedom. That's been a rare commodity in these lockdown times, and on "UKNY" at 11, another song from this eclectic collective.

Billy Nomates returns with new music for 2021 — her 2020 included her self-titled debut album and a slinky single with Sleaford Mods. London's Japanese Television and Ezra Collective both find ways of freshening up older songs and Toronto's The Weather Station releases one of the best albums of 2021, Ignorance, partly inspired by the climate emergency. Lewisham's shape-shifting songwriter, producer and director Haich Ber Na has a third EP on the horizon — and we'll hear a track from that — and another Londoner, go-to session guitarist Oli Swan, has released a shimmering, cheerfully catchy pop song for these grim, isolated days.

All that and more on "UKNY," 11p.m.-midnight Sundays, on 90.7, streaming online and available after broadcast in the Weekend Archives.
