Currently on tour in the UK with Slowdive, Whitelands released their beautiful debut album on Friday, called Night-bound Eyes Are Blind to the Day, on the Sonic Cathedral label. Led by singer and guitarist Etienne Quartey-Papafio, the quartet brings their own perspective of Black diaspora and social commentary to their songs — emotive, layered, shoegazing tempests. On tonight's "UKNY" at 11pm, a track from this striking new album that features Whitelands' Sonic Cathedral labelmates, deary.

In addition to Whitelands with Dottie of deary, the duo deary on their own, plus shoegazing legends Ride, who will release their next album, Interplay, in May. Belfast's kinetic Chalk release their EP, Conditions II, this coming Friday, and Bombay Bicycle Club have swiftly followed up their most recent album, 2023's My Big Day, with a just-released, very collaborative EP, Fantasies.

And new releases from London's Goat Girl, Melbourne's Glass Beams, and New York's own Lightning Bug too.

British and international releases on "UKNY," Sundays 11pm-midnight, on 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
