UKNY For February 20
It has been a winter of unexpected and often brutal twists and turns in music. Last week, a tragic car accident in Sweden swept away all four members of the up-and-coming Warrington band Viola Beach and their manager; they had just played their first international festival gig there. Over the last seven days, a social media campaign started by Viola Beach's grief-stricken friends, family, and fans has vaulted the group's debut single to No. 11 on the UK singles charts and No. 1 on the UK iTunes chart.
Tonight on UKNY at 11, we'll hear that song as well as new releases from Steve Mason, NZCA Lines (pictured), Kiran Leonard, and Field Music, who've released one of the best albums of 2016 (yes, I know it's still early).
Missed the show? You can catch up to UKNY on demand as of Monday in the FUV weekend archives up to two weeks after broadcast.
