UKNY for December 28

A snowy weekend gives everyone time to settle down and reflect on the year that's hurtled by. One universal consensus: it might have been a bad year for a lot of things, but it was a very good year for music (although not so much for musicians, who are grappling with dwindling streaming fees and the threat of AI).
On tonight's "UKNY" at 11p.m., an array of songs from artists who made bold choices and delivered innovative, unconventional, and personal albums, including Sheffield's Self Esteem, France's Oklou, the shapeshifting sextet Black Country, New Road, Hackney's John Glacier, and Spanish superstar Rosalía. Blood Orange's Dev Hynes and Emma-Jean Thackray, each transformed profound grief into pure artistry, unafraid to address what it feels like to fall apart.
That's "UKNY," Sundays 11p.m.-midnight, on 90.7FM, streaming online and in the Archives after broadcast.
