UKNY For December 22
Winter has descended, draped in a blanket of long, dark nights and frigid cold. The candlelit eight nights of Chanukah begin this evening, and Christmas and Kwanzaa are mere days away. There's no escaping that the holidays are here and so is the music of the season, sometimes merry, but at other times far more wistful and contemplative, taking in the twelve months that have passed.
On tonight's "UKNY" at 11, parsing those unpredictable December moods, from Christmas classics to winter musings from artists like Saint Etienne, Kate Bush, Summer Camp, Shame, Belle and Sebastian, Mik Artistik's Ego Trip, Emma Tricca, Vince Guaraldi, Tracey Thorn, Modern Studies, and Mabel, the daughter of Neneh Cherry and producer Cameron McVey, who is making her own headway in British pop.
An hour of nothing but mince pie merriment and thoughtful seasonal tidings on UKNY, 11 p.m.-midnight Sundays, on 90.7, streaming online, found on the FUV app and available to listen whenever you want after broadcast in the Weekend Archives.
