UKNY For August 5
There's a wonderful array of UK festivals with a dedicated mission of championing young, emerging bands, like last weekend's busy (and by Sunday, rain-drenched) Indietracks Festival in Derbyshire. On UKNY at 11 tonight, a few of those Indietracks-featured bands, like London's Tigercats and Derby's Mighty Kids, that took over the Midland Railway Centre last weekend, celebrating the indefatigable spirit of indie and DIY music.
Also, new releases from Neneh Cherry (reunited with her longtime friends, Four Tet's Kieran Hebden and Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja), Kathryn Joseph, Tunng and Amsterdam's fantastic Pip Blom, who release their new EP, Paycheck, on August 31.
Out late or asleep way too early? You can catch up to UKNY in the Weekend Archives up to two weeks after broadcast.
