UKNY for August 30

For their scrappy, sharp record-release gig at London's Rough Trade East on August 20, Manchester's Westside Cowboy galloped through the whole of their debut album, It Goes On, track by track. They've bounced to the other side of that chaotic and happy week with rave reviews and It Goes On debuting at No. 5 on the UK album charts. On "UKNY" at 7 p.m. tonight, one of the terrific songs from this crackling, best-of-the-year debut via a quartet of friends who never expected to go so far so fast. (And I'll have an interview with Westside Cowboy coming up soon too.)
Also, new releases from London's Moses Boyd, who is looking to his second solo album (the first was nominated for a Mercury Prize) and 2026 Mercury Prize nominee Nia Archives, whose second album, Emotional Junglist, is one of the very best of this year. Man/Woman/Chainsaw's Cannonball is out in the world and the American-Canadian duo Tommy Lefroy have a new single too.
Underworld are headed to Knockdown Center this week for a pair of sold-out shows on September 3 and 4, so one of their more euphoric bangers in the mix too.
That's "UKNY," Sundays 7-8 p.m., on 90.7FM, streaming online and in the Archives after broadcast.
