South London's Bleach Lab has a knack for gorgeous dream pop and in a very stressed-out world, the quartet's ethereal songs are a much-needed balm. Earlier this year they released an EP, A Calm Sense of Surrounding, and now they've got a new single too, ahead of autumn and winter (if all goes well) UK tour dates. On "UKNY" tonight at 11 p.m., we'll ride out this stormy day with that beautiful Bleach Lab track.

There's a pretty new song from Brighton's Penelope Isles too, ahead of their second album Which Way to Happy, released November 5. Manchester's Afflecks Palace has an avid grassroots fan base, and this buzzy guitar band has a terrific new single with the foolproof ingredients of jangling guitars, cascading chords, and a shouty, sing-along chorus.

More in tonight's mix: Dominica's Navy, who reaches back decades for a perfectly free kind of sample, and Brighton's Poppy Ackroyd, who held her baby in a sling as she sat at the piano and composed the music for her spare and haunting new album, Pause.

Also, Little Simz, Pip Blom, Bess Atwell, and looking back 40 years at a sweet single from Scritti Politti ahead of FUV's 1981 Throwback Thursday on August 26.

That's "UKNY," Sundays 11p.m.-midnight, on 90.7, streaming online and available in the Weekend Archives after broadcast.
