The Isle of Wight, on the south coast of England, is home to just over 140,000 residents, and two hours from London by train and ferry. That close community has become a launchpad of fast-emerging bands and artists over the past handful of years. On tonight's "UKNY" at 11 p.m., I'll feature a few of them, starting with an FUV Live session with arguably their biggest band of the moment: Wet Leg.  The band recorded three songs at Los Angeles's Village Studios for FUV, all drawn from their new album, moisturizer, and I chatted with singer Rhian Teasdale (from a parked tour bus in Leeds) about their redefinition from a duo (with Hester Chambers) to a full quintet.

Wet Leg are New York-bound with sold-out shows at Central Park SummerStage on September 17 and Brooklyn Paramount on September 18.

Also in tonight's Islander mix: The PillLauran Hibberd, CHAMPS, and Coach Party, who'll release their second album, Caramel, on September 26.

And we'll ferry back to London for music from Nilüfer Yanya and Kokoroko too.

That's "UKNY," Sundays from 11a.m.-midnight, on 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
