UKNY for April 26

Manchester's Antony Szmierek has a terrific new single, "The Heron" — what he calls a "manifesto of survival." It also prompts an entire hour of avian songs on tonight's "UKNY" at 7 p.m. — both feathered and metaphoric. It also happens be the prime time for the spring migration of birds here in New York City, where you can see Antony when he plays Brooklyn's Baby's All Right on May 9, as part of his first North American tour.
So seagulls, herons, crows, ducks, condors, and plain old pigeons will alight and soar this hour, courtesy of London dreamgaze trio deary, Scottish siblings Cloth, and the fading light of Saint Etienne.
Victoria Canal makes a classic song intimately her own, Whitelands goes full shoegaze on songbirds, and Prima Queen entwine a deeper grief with an avian accident.
That's "UKNY," 7-8 p.m. on 90.7FM, streaming online, and in the Archives after broadcast.
