Fontaines D.C.'s move from Dublin to London might seem surprising for a post-punk band that has laced Irish identity into its previous two albums. But with Skinty Fia, the band's third album, released on Friday, the bewilderment and uncertainty of what it feels to be an immigrant, and that search for equilibrium, has given Fontaines D.C. a compelling place to begin. On tonight's "UKNY" at 11 p.m., another new track from what is this thrilling band's strongest album to date. I first saw them at Iceland Airwaves in 2018 — and everyone in the venue that night knew in an instant just how big this band would be.

Skinty Fia was produced by Dan Carey, and we'll hear two other Carey productions tonight too, from London's Kae Tempest and Bristol's Katy J Pearson. With the advance notice of an cryptic Instagram post the day before it dropped, the London collective Sault, lead by producer Inflo, returns with its sixth album in three years, Air. Primarily wordless, guided with choral majesty, it's a striking left turn for this prolific, endlessly fascinating project.

Also in the mix, Reykjavík-born, Los Angeles-based Laufey, Bristol's Billy Nomates, Assam-born, Brooklyn-based Jitwam, and Busan, South Korea's Say Sue Me.

Exploring Britain and the world, "UKNY" airs Sundays 11 p.m.-midnight on 90.7 FM, streaming online, and available in the Weekend Archives after broadcast.
