Over the past week, FUV listeners stepped up to support the station during our Spring Membership Drive — thank you for championing this station's eclectic spirit by making a contribution! Tonight's UKNY at 11 includes recent releases from 485C, Rival Consoles, Slug and Emma Tricca and a birthday huzzah to Robert Smith of the Cure, who turned 59 yesterday. During this 40th anniversary year of the Cure, he'll also be curating the forthcoming Meltdown Festival at London's Southbank Centre from June 15-24 too.

Also, this past Friday, April 20, marked the 20th anniversary of the release of Boards of Canada's masterful and momentous debut album, Music Has the Right to Children. It's not only one of the most important, beautiful, and critically praised albums of the '90s, but it remains a landmark achievement in the realm of electronic music. Scottish brothers Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin's spectral, visceral exploration of childhood and fractured memories — ebullient, blurred, and darkly sinister — was revolutionary in its construct, its samples, its moods and perambulations. We'll salute that remarkable album tonight with a set and hope that the reclusive, enigmatic duo, whose last album was 2013's Tomorrow's Harvest, returns with new music soon.

Early night? You can catch up to UKNY on demand in the Weekend Archives at any time, immediately after broadcast.
