Torres is the musical project of Brooklyn-based Mackenzie Scott, who has been releasing records for almost a decade now. She is up to her fifth full-length album, called Thirstier, and it is the biggest, brightest, boldest collection of songs she's released to date.
It's refreshing to hear this level of rock intensity focused on positivity and joy, and it feels like this album is exactly what is needed right now. Just ahead of its release in late July, Mackenzie checked in from home to talk with me about making Thirstier, as well as the prospect of finally (hopefully) being able to share the new songs on tour. So for a preview, she treated us to two: a solo run through "Don't Go Puttin Wishes In My Head" and a first-ever live performance of the album's title track.
