Teen Idle: NY Slice Session 2026

Teen Idle’s recent "NY Slice" session felt like a discovery of an artist who has been hiding in plain sight — right here at Fordham University, where FUV is located.
Sara Abdelbarry was actually writing music while she was attending Fordham, but it wasn’t until after graduation that I finally connected with her song.
I first discovered “Vampires,” all sadness and fuzzy guitars. Abdelbarry seamlessly blends disparate genres — pop, country, doo wop, shoegaze, and singer-songwriter aesthetics — into something that's entirely her own niche, tied together with her compelling voice and perspective.
For this session, Abdelbarry and her bandmates — James Sleeman, Cory Seyler, Sara Wojcienhowski, and Nicky Adem — performed "Infinite Sea" and "The Sound" from Teenage Idle's recently released second album, A Heart So Tender.
Abdelbarry also took the "NY Slice" pop quiz and chatted up her love of Fleetwood Mac, Beach House, and her own Fordham University background.
